Being a product of Australian culture and weather patterns … dont you feel totally cheated when you see how many snow days these kids get? … and lets not get started on the 3 months off for Summer!
In Boston we got five snow days programmed into the school calendar, and whatever we didn’t use got taken off the end of the year. They’re pretty generous about calling them, though, mostly because there were incidents where little kids were waiting for their school buses, and the bus drivers didn’t see them over the snow banks so didn’t stop for them, and the kids were locked out of home in the cold and in some extreme cases died. It drives parents nuts because it causes so many child-care issues, and fair enough, but better that, I reckon.
The closest I ever had to a “snow day” was when it got too hot in WA – I think there were a couple of times when we were sent home from our primary school because it got to 40-44 degrees. As you can imagine not as much fun as “frolicking” in the snow…..
Hi Dennis, and sorry, I only just saw this. I’m from Boston proper – Roslindale, to be exact – and though I live in Sydney now I’m currently back up in Beantown for the holidays. Why on earth are you in Weymouth?

I wonder if we will get another one tomorrow. The government has decided it will snow tomorrow and this government does not make mistakes.
