Frustration: Googlemaps are innacurate

Filed under General by Zombie Master at 16:34

I was supposed to go and meet some guys in a cafe downtown today for a role playing game. Because I know my limits I decided to do a dry run of the trip with Alex in the car to navigate. Unfortunately I relied upon Googlemaps to get me there. Oh well. I spoke to the owner of the cafe on the phone when I got back home and checked another map for his location. It was news to the guy that Googlemaps had placed his cafe 20 minutes walk from where it really is.

At the time of discovering the mistake I was really furious at the waste of three hours, but now I have calmed down. Will I use Googlemaps again? Yes, but it will not be my go to resource anymore.

  4. i once tried to pick a client up from Frankfurt Hahn. Googlemaps sent me (well no they just told me, I drove there myself) to somewhere near Marburg. When I got to Hahn it was in the hills. Even seen an airport in the hills? I asked a woman at a petrol station where the airport might be and she laughed. I wasnt the first to drive 2 hours in the wrong direction!! Lesson learnt, NEVER TRUSRT GOOGLEMAPS!!
