Never use FedEx

Derek has just moved back in permanently and the final stage was to have his stuff shipped over. So today (nine days late) a giant package arrived along with an extremely surly delivery driver. The start of the problem came from FedEx having bundled the 12 small boxes into one enormous, Voltron style, monstrosity. The situation was made worse by FedEx employing complete Fuckwits as their representatives.

Having dropped the box to the pavement, the driver wanted the signature so he could leave. Derek mentioned to the ignorant fool that he had paid for it to be taken from his bedroom in San Fransisco to his bedroom here in Düsseldorf, but the bloke just kept saying it was too heavy.

After opening the box to show the guy that it was indeed 12 small boxes and again asking that they be brought upstairs, the guy moved them into the downstairs hallway and flatly refused to move them any further. In fact, his attitude came across like Derek should feel lucky that he had even moved them off the street.

The last thing I need to mention is that Derek uses walking sticks to get around and along with that, our upstairs neighbour (an old man) shouted out numerous times, that the stupid moron shouldn’t even expect Derek to come down as it was difficult for him.

I will never ever use FedEx again and I will look dimly upon anyone who does.

Someone enjoys carrots, although the digestion process might have been a little problematic. Everything seems in order again now.

On Tuesday Bayern Munich came to town to play Fortuna. I went along because I wanted to be there to see my little local team play Germany’s biggest football team. I wasn’t expecting the visitors to field a proper team and was surprised when they did. Van Bommel, Toni, Klose and Schweinsteiger all played full games, with Khan playing the first half only.
The even bigger surprise was to see that Fortuna (a third division club) lost by only one goal. We even scored twice. I wonder can you guess what the final score was? 8)

School is fully back in the swing of things. Report cards are written so I am less stressed and can see the funny side of school. Today there were no balls on the playground at first recess, because someone left the ball cage outside overnight and the lock froze shut. Ah, good times.

I have noticed a couple of things at home lately as well. I am getting good at doing things one handed and M thinks it is hysterically funny when we wash her neck. This means she has the cleanest neck in town.

Jet lag sucks. It’s a stupid invention and is just another thing I am adding to the list of ‘why god doesn’t exist’. Jet lag sucks even more when you only weigh six kilos and don’t understand why the hell you are awake when you feel so tired. If you are a six kilo person, the proper response to such things as jet lag is to make sure everyone else suffers along with you. It’s some kind of ‘bonding through adversity’ therapy.

Australia

So we are currently in Australia and have been for two weeks. It has been great catching up with family, friends, places and foods. We have another week left here and then it is the long haul back to Germany. I have managed so far to get bitten by a spider and get heat stroke, so all I need now is a snake bite and for a shark to attack me and I will have had the full Aussie experience.

M on the other hand almost didn’t get the full experience because immigration wasn’t sure what to do with her. She only has a German passport, but has two Australian parents. This threw them and I was wondering if they were going to confiscate her. The immigration lady said that her coming in on a tourist visa was not correct, because she is entitled to an Australian passport. We didn’t point out the obvious fact that maybe she doesn’t want an Australian passport. Now we’re wondering what problems we will have when we try to leave the country…
